Singapore General Hospital (SGH)
The Singapore General Hospital (SGH), established in 1821, is Singapore's oldest and largest acute tertiary hospital and national referral centre. It has 1,400 beds and a staff of more than 5,000 of whic over 500 are specialists. SGH also provides teaching and training for doctors, nurses and para-medical professionals. The SGH Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and the Institute of Advanced Nursing (IAN) located within the hospital provides specialized professional training of doctors and nurses. SGH is located at Outram Road in the southwestern part of the city centre.
