The Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) announced, 17 Nov 2008, the acquisition and commissioning of a new laser system for its Lasik eye surgery services. The new generation VisuMax Femtosecond laser from Carl Zeiss is the latest addition to its existing IntraLase and Femtec lasers used for creating the corneal flap in blade-less Lasik operations.

The Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) opened in 1990 as the designated public sector centre to spearhead and co-ordinate the provision of specialised ophthalmological services. SNEC has nine established subspecialties :- Cataract and Comprehensive Ophthalmology, Cornea, Glaucoma, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Oculoplastic and Aesthetic Eyeplastic, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Refractive Surgery, Ocular Inflammation and Immunology Service and Vitro-Retina. It is also involved in clinical research and education.
