Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) is a major tertiary care hospital located in Jurong East town. It started operations on 30 June 2015, initially serving outpatients and inpatients mainly transferred from Alexandra Hospital which had closed on the same day.
NTFGH has 700 beds and is the first public general hospital sited west of National University Hospital (NUH). With its location in close proximity to the light to heavy industrial zones of Jurong (including Jurong Island), Tuas, Boon Lay and Benoi, Ng Teng Fong Hospital is also equipped to be a major industrial, marine and petrochemical accidents and emergencies (A&E) medical care facility.
Adjoining NTFGH is the Jurong Community Hospital (JCH) which provides step-down care of non-acute patients who need longer term rehabilitative and palliative services. JCH is closely integrated with Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and both are managed by the Jurong Health Services group.
With the benefit of integrated district planning as part of the Jurong Gateway area, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital is multiply connected via elevated pedestrian walkways to the Jurong East Central transportation hub (Jurong East MRT Station and Bus Interchange). Visitors and patients can access the specialist clinics tower via Westgate mall's bridge, or the main hospital ward tower via Bigbox mall (through JEM and Westgate). This convenience means there is no need to cross traffic lights and vehicular road junctions at ground level.
